A Saturday Downtown

Let your guest sleep in or grab a few of your favorites and head into Downtown Alexander City on a Saturday morning.  You can have a nice breakfast, stroll through the farmer's market, refresh with a famous lemon lime freeze, shop, and see one of the world's largest musclecar collections all within a few steps around downtown.  Come on, we'll help you map out a fantastic morning getaway.

Coffee Corner

Start your Saturday morning here!  Lots of coffee choices and an incredible omelette bar.  Relax and enjoy.  The Coffee Corner is a very casual hang out.  You'll see lots of laptops, artisian coffees, and delectable pastries.  They also do lunch and dinner and the best tacos in town.  Evenings are fun too.  They block off the alley and have bands or big screen movies.  @thecoffeecorner  107 Main Street

Farmer's Market

Hurry down Main Street and cross over to Broad Street.  You'll spot the red tent tops and spy the fresh produce.  This farmer's market happens every Saturday morning from 7:00am - 11:00am.  All the produce comes from local gardens.  Great selections of fruits, vegetables and all kinds of jams and jellies.

Wellborn Musclecar Museum

Now walk half a block down the street to Wellborn Musclecar Museum and behold the coolest museum ever.  It is home to the largest musclecar collection in the country.  Tell Alton we sent you.  He will take you on an incredible tour.  They are open on Saturdays to the public.  9am - 3pm  There is a small admission fee.  @wellbornmusclecarmuseum  124 Broad Street.

Emporium Wine and Spirits

This will be a treat.  Think cigar lounge, very nice selection of cigars, wine, spirits and craft beers.  Its also home to Cafe 128 if you want to grab a sandwich.  Find the owner Henry Foy aka Papa Cork and tell him hello for us.  Stock up on the good stuff for the weekend.  @emporiumwine 128 Calhoun Street

Now Lets Shop

On Main Street you will find little dress shops and great gift shops.  We recommend them all but a few of our favorites are Downtown Girl, Makers on Main, Cloud Nine and Carlisle's.  Take your time and shop them all.  Hint: Most all the shops downtown close around 2pm on Saturdays.

Carlisle's

Carlisle's Drug Store is over 100 years old.   It is one of the few fountain drug stores left in the country.  Along with lots of beautiful gifts, jewelry and clothing you will find the old fountain counter that serves famous chicken salad and pimento cheese sanwiches. All the locals stop in for their lemon lime freezes.  They have a full lunch menu.  Sit for a while and enjoy. @carlisle's  12 Main Street.
